Mogulla Krishna Reddy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mogulla Krishna Reddy manages validation and compliance for life sciences projects at Cognizant, a title that says little about the twenty-year journey that led him there. He began in a life sciences company, on the product side, in a world of assays and protocols. Then came the shift to consulting, and with it, a demand he hadn’t trained for: knowledge of computer science and engineering, increasingly expected by pharmaceutical and life sciences clients from their consultants.

In search of knowledge that could fill that gap, he found NPTEL. That was 2018. Eight years on, he has completed 35 NPTEL courses and more than 50 on SWAYAM, 85 in total. Building that record required a particular kind of discipline. NPTEL courses run eight to twelve weeks, with lectures that stretch to 24-36 hours of lectures. He learned early that ambition without limits collapses under its weight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen I selected more than six or eight courses, I restricted myself to only four to keep more focus on them\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

He studied mornings, evenings, and weekends, working around his course calendar and Cognizant’s own deadlines, until the rhythm became a habit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the eighty-five, one stayed with him: \u2018Interpersonal Skills\u2019 by Prof. Smita Jha, from IIT Roorkee. He finished in the top one percent, scoring 94%, a result he mentions with the same even tone he uses for everything else, as though the surprise had long since worn off.. His portfolio also includes courses in leadership, project management, artificial intelligence in management, talent acquisition and regulatory affairs in biotechnology. He built this curriculum not for credentials, but for practical use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am not pursuing these courses for grades or certification. My focus has been on subjects that provide real-life scenarios and assist me in managing current situations.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

These were the courses his engineering degree never offered: the soft architecture of leading a team and reading a room; skills that showed up later in how he ran meetings and negotiated deadlines at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, NPTEL gave him a Discipline Star Award for Computer Science and Engineering. He advises colleagues and anyone contemplating a new endeavor to prioritize their goals before selecting courses. He emphasizes that the industry frequently updates its requirements every three to five years and does not accommodate those who fall behind. There is no age limit on catching up, he says, only the decision to begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His next goal is characteristically specific. Having built his technical foundation through NPTEL and his managerial knowledge through SWAYAM’s IIM courses, he now aims for a top-management role. He sees continued learning as an essential part of making that next step. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When asked about the significance of the certificates beyond their value as credentials, he does not mention how they would fill a wall. He talks instead about the teams he now manages differently, the conversations that go easier, and the version of himself that showed up to work after each course ended, quietly better equipped than the one who’d walked in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
